Non-Immigrant Visas

Receipt Number

At the time of booking the interview, you are required to provide the agent with the Receipt Number of the Approved petition. The Receipt Number can be found on the "Notice of Action", Form I-797A, B or C used to notify the employer or agent, that a petition has been approved.

The Receipt Number is found in the upper left hand corner of the form. Please ensure that you provide the agent with the Receipt Number of the approved petition. A quick check is to look at the "Case Type" field next to the Receipt Number. It should read "I129 Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker". The Receipt Number of the approved petition will cover both the beneficiary and his or her spouse and children under the age of 21.

If the spouse and/or children applied for a change of status in the United States they will have been issued with their own Notice of Action which states in the "Case Type" field "I539 Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant status". While this will have a Receipt Number, this is not the one that we require. We require the Receipt Number of the petition approved on behalf of the principal applicant.
