Social Security

The Federal Benefits Unit, located in the U.S. Consulate General in Lisbon, provides a wide variety of services for the U.S. Social Security Administration and other Federal Agencies.

We process Social Security claims for retirement, disability and survivor benefits, Social Security number applications and all post-entitlement activities such as changes of address, loss of a Social Security check and SSA direct deposit.

For customers visiting our office, we are open from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 13:30 to 16:00, Monday through Friday, except on Portuguese or U.S. holidays.

However, please avoid inconvenient trips to Lisbon as most business can be conducted by telephone 21 727 3300 from 8:00 to 12:00, Monday through Thursday.
