Sep. 18 - The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Portugal, David Ballard, paid a visit to Portugal’s second largest city on September 18 and 19. While in Porto, Mr. Ballard participated in a reception celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the influential Portuguese Group Sonae, which was attended by the Portuguese Prime Minister and several of Portugal’s top entrepreneurs.

The trip was also an opportunity for the Chargé to meet with the leaders of Porto’s Muslim community, which is made up of approximately 4,500 people. During the visit, David Ballard also visited the House of Music and the Portuguese Press Museum, two of the city’s most famous landmarks. At the Press Museum, Mr. Ballard talked about his career and U.S.-Portugal relations with leading regional TV-channel Porto Canal.
