| Fifteen students attended briefing |
Sep. 14 - OPA recently organized a briefing for 15 undergraduate humanities majors from U.S. colleges who have just arrived in Portugal on a three-month study tour organized by the Council of International Education Exchange (CIEE), which has provided opportunities for American students to study abroad for a semester, or a year, since 1946.
Organized by OPA, the briefing was a concerted Mission effort and included briefings from the Chargé, the Consul General, the RSO, and a POL/ECON officer. Topics ranged from an overview of U.S.-Portuguese bilateral relations to consular services for American citizens. After a general Q-and-A session, the briefers were also able to engage with the students on a one-on-one basis at the informal reception following the briefing. A favorite topic of conversation was what it is like to work for the Embassy and how best to prepare to pass the Foreign Service entrance examination.
