USS Eisenhower Visits Lisbon

July 14/16 - The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower took a much anticipated port visit in Lisbon in July, after completing more than three months of combat operations in support of coalition forces in Afghanistan. The ship was operating in the Arabian Sea as part of a regularly-scheduled deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and maritime security operations.

While visiting Portugal’s capital city, members of the crew volunteered their time to support several Portuguese food banks, a children’s shelter, and other organizations.

In a visit organized by the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon, the USS Eisenhower also welcomed a group of Portuguese journalists aboard, for a media tour which generated positive coverage in five of Portugal’s main media outlets – Lusa, SIC, Público, Expresso, and Correio da Manhã.
