Embassy Speaker at MUN Assembly

April 21 - Political Counselor Richard Reiter was the keynote speaker at the CICMUN Model United Nations Assembly held in Vila Nova de Gaia in northern Portugal on April 21.

The event gathered dozens of high school students from around Portugal who showed a keen interest in international affairs and the workings of the UN. Mr. Reiter described the policies of the Obama administration on issues ranging from stem cell research, to relations with Russia, to the Middle East peace process. The questions raised by the students were thought-provoking and showed how engaged these young people are in the important political issues of the day.
